Lean Learning Cluster Group Quarterly Meetings

This program is intended to assist companies that want to start or accelerate lean management initiatives by providing them with technical and coaching support to achieve sustainable continuous improvement as they embark on lean transformation journeys.

Companies would enrol in the programme for a year (i.e. four quarterly meetings) which would entitle them to bring four people to each meeting, with at least two people attending all meetings to provide continuity. They should also be willing to host a cluster meeting so that it is possible to do a Gemba walk at the host company.

Each Cluster group will have 4-5 companies located close to one another meeting at least once a quarter, for  1-2days to learn from each other and get collective input from Dr Anton Grutter who is an internationally experienced lean coach. Each Cluster group will have a SteerCom that will review each cluster program, and provide input into the programing of the Cluster Meetings.

The first quarter programme for the Cluster meeting will be a cluster start-up Day in which the facilitator will provide training on the necessary lean skills required for each company to implement its Lean practices successfully. The training will include Toyota Kata, process improvement and other lean practices to be detailed in the programme provided to companies that sign up.

Subsequent cluster meetings will be 1 day per quarter; which begins with Lean journey sharings with participating members being coached and a Gemba walk at the host company.

The Training Days are:

  • 2nd Quarter - Wednesday 09 May 2018
  • 3rd Quarter Wednesday 29 August 2018
  • 4th Quarter Wednesday 10 October 2018

The CZI Lean CEO Forum

It is well known that the role of Senior Executives is critical to the success of improvement programmes. However, there are limited opportunities for leaders in companies to be informed of what Lean Management actually is, and how to implement it effectively. The CEO Lean Forum is intended to provide company leadership with the insight they need in a short space of time.

The CEO Lean Forum will be hosted by a listed blue chip company that has practiced continuous improvement for many years, whose senior leadership is willing to share its experiences on the role of leadership in effectively implementing lean management in their organisations as well as allow the invited CEOs to participate in a Gemba (shop floor) walk to see team-based problem-solving and visual management systems.

The first meeting is scheduled to take place at one of the Delta Plants in Harare on the 11th April 2018.

The Training Days are:

  • 2nd Quarter – Thursday 10 May 2018
